"Roots Among the Rocks seeks to share stories from the people who make up the church in Canada. Based on interviews with Christians from coast to coast, the show brings the Body of Christ home to itself, and asks the question: Who is Church? Characters tell their stories around a kitchen table, friends whisper is church pews, some choose to leave and others choose to stay. Music, poetry, dance and drama combine to explore just what it is that brings us together. Journeying through the themes of Sunday Morning, Identity Crisis, Resilience and Grace, Confession and Absolution, and Finding Home, come hear the stories and meet the characters that make up the church we call home."

"I have never cried at a theatre performance before."

"It was extremely professional."

"Everyone will see something of themselves in this play: rural/urban, anglo-catholic, evangelical - everyone will see their story somewhere in this play."

"That is the most profound theology I have heard in a very long time."

"There are so many parts that are SO funny!"

"Absolutely BRILLIANT. Well done, the entire audience was mesmerized. So very many thanks to you all."

"There are no words."

St. Dunstan's Youth Group Feast or Famine Awareness Event

Thank-you to all who supported the youth during their Feast or Famine Awareness event. We had a great turn-out and an excellent response to the evening's activities.

The evening began with an ice-breaker game, and an opportunity to view projects on under-developed countries made by the youth members.
As guests entered into the church basement, they chose a bean at random to decide if they would be representing someone from an under-developed country, developing country or developed country.
70% of people were from under-developed nations. Forced to sit on mats on the floor, their dinner consisted of rice and water. They had to line up to receive their bowl of rice, and their water was available to them in the annex kitchen (representing the long walks which many are forced to do to reach clean water).
20% of people were from developing nations. With a simple table and chairs, these people were given tortillas, beans, lettuce, tomatoes and water.
10% of people were from developed nations. These people were served a full-course turkey dinner, including yams, green beans, mashed potatoes, and fruit punch.

With slide show presentations, a clip from Rob Bell's Nooma episode 'Rich' and an eye-opening quiz, the evening was very powerful.
We finished by sharing the rest of the turkey dinner and dessert, reminding us that we must all share with those less fortunate than ourselves.

A very inspiring event, the youth reached their goal to raise money to fill a stable through World Vision. Their final total was $1 305.

Thank-you so much to everyone who prepared, organized and participated in the event!

Toddler Time Pre-Christmas Party--Dec. 11th

Toddler Time will be holding its pre-Christmas party (our last gathering for the year) in the annex on Friday 11th December at 9:30am

As always, all caregivers along with their children (ranging from babies to kindergarteners) are welcome, even if you have never been to Toddler Time before. We are planning to jingle bells, sing, eat Christmassy snacks, tell the Christmas story and have lots of fun. If you have a craft or song or story or some special Christmas food you would like to share, please let us know (stdunstanstoddlertime@gmail.com) so that we can incorporate it into our morning's activities.

As we did last year, we will also be collecting items for the Human Exchange (for more information see www.humanx.org), so we will have a collection box available for non-preishable food items and household items if you wish to donate to this cause. We hope you can make it.

Toddler Time will restart after Christmas on Friday 8th January 2010.
